Terima kasih untuk semua umat yang berpartisipasi di aksi natal tahun lalu. Terkumpul sumbangan dari umat sejumlah $911 dan WKICU memberikan matching donation dengan jumlah yang sama. Total $1,822 akan disumbangkan ke Catholic Relief Services.

Merefleksi apakah saya sudah cukup berusaha untuk menunjukkan kasih sayang itu kepada orang-orang terdekat dengan saya; apakah itu kekasih, pasangan hidup, orang tua atau anak-anak, saudara-saudara atau teman-teman. Pokoknya semua yang punya relasi dengan saya.

KENALAN DENGAN IVAN WONGSO

Ivan Wongso serves as the Seksi Konsumsi at WKICU, where he takes great pride in managing the food section for the community. His passion for culinary arts and hospitality extends beyond his role at WKICU, as he enjoys the challenge of preparing large quantities of food at an efficient cost. For Ivan, feeding others with delicious food is not just a duty but a gift from God—one that he deeply cherishes and finds great fulfillment in sharing. Currently, Ivan is a full-time R&D professional at Kawahara Nurseries, a wholesale plant nursery, while also pursuing his MBA at Santa Clara University.

Despite his demanding schedule, he finds time for his favorite hobbies—baking, cooking, eating, and traveling—all of which reflect his appreciation for flavors, creativity, and cultural exploration.

Ivan’s love for baking began in middle school when he was captivated by a cooking magazine featuring a chocolate cupcake on the cover. Eager to try it out, he asked his mother about baking, and she encouraged him by taking him to a local bake shop. That moment marked the beginning of his journey into the world of baking. His first attempt at making chocolate cupcakes resulted in them being half-baked, but rather than seeing it as a failure, he cleverly called them "chocolate lava cupcakes"—a name that made them a hit among his friends. This initial success sparked a small baking business, where he sold not only cupcakes but also other baked goods like cakes and cookies to fund his growing passion.

If Ivan could step into someone else's shoes for an hour, he would choose to be a top pastry chef, as it was a childhood dream of his. He remains curious about how his life would have unfolded in that path. However, he eventually realized that when baking became a job, it was no longer fun. Instead, he decided to pursue agricultural engineering (biological systems engineering) with a focus on waste management and quality analysis, aiming to make a significant impact on the world through sustainable food production and waste reduction.

Among the saints, St. Vincentius holds a special place in Ivan’s heart due to his unwavering charity and compassion for the poor. Ivan believes in giving back to the community and hopes to carry forward the same spirit of kindness and generosity in his own life. When asked about his outlook on the future, Ivan expresses a deep desire to travel forward in time to witness his dreams and visions come to fruition. His aspirations are vast, and he is driven by the belief that every moment is a stepping stone toward a greater purpose.

For the future of WKICU, Ivan envisions a warm, inclusive, and open-minded Catholic community, where members support and uplift one another in faith and friendship. Through his dedication to both his professional career and his role within the community, he hopes to leave a lasting impact and continue sharing his passion for food and service with those around him.
